Everyone loves The Bowl at Ballantyne. The food scene is strong. The atmosphere is dialed in. It’s one of the most popular spots in South Charlotte right now.
But if you’ve spent any time there—you’ve probably noticed what’s missing.

What’s missing from The Bowl right now?

For as good as The Bowl is… it’s still heavily food-focused.

And that’s the gap.

Right now, you go there to eat, hang out, maybe catch a drink—but there’s not much reason to stay and shop or make a full day out of it.

That’s exactly what’s (hopefully) about to change.

Is The Bowl actually expanding?

Short answer: yes—just not officially announced yet.

Here’s what we know:
  • The Bowl is 100% leased
  • It’s seeing around 19,000 visitors per day
  • A second phase is already being planned
And according to the developer, the next phase will focus less on food and more on creating a true retail experience.

What kind of retail is coming?

While nothing is finalized yet, the vision is pretty clear.

Think:
  • Athleisure brands
  • Skincare and wellness
  • Jewelry and boutique retail
  • A higher-end steakhouse concept
In other words—this shifts The Bowl from a dining destination to more of a lifestyle hub.

What’s happening with the concert venue?

The venue now officially has a name:

👉 TD Amp Ballantyne
  • ~5,000-person outdoor venue
  • Full summer concert lineup
  • Opening season kicked off April 11th
Between live music, food, and future retail… this starts to feel like a destination—not just a stop.

Why does this matter for Ballantyne real estate?

This is where things get interesting.

When you combine:
  • High foot traffic
  • Ongoing development
  • Lifestyle-driven amenities
You start to see areas transition into something bigger.

Ballantyne is already evolving—but this pushes it further toward:

👉 A true “city within a city”

And when that happens, nearby real estate typically benefits from:
  • Increased demand
  • Stronger long-term value
  • More people wanting to live close to the action
