Wegmans is Coming to Ballantyne: Groundbreaking Scheduled THIS Week

Exciting news for Charlotte shoppers! Wegmans, the beloved grocery chain, is officially coming to Ballantyne, marking its fifth location in North Carolina. The new store will be located on North Community House Road, just a short drive from the up-and-coming retail hotspot, The Bowl at Ballantyne.

The Bowl has quickly become one of Charlotte’s newest must-visit destinations, featuring popular spots like Harriet's Hamburgers, Roosters, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Fly Kid Fly, Honeysuckle Gelato, Drybar, Arrow, Solidcore, and more.

The groundbreaking ceremony is set for September 24 at 10 a.m., signaling the start of construction for this much-anticipated community staple.

The Ballantyne Wegmans will span roughly 110,000 square feet and is set to be a one stop shop for all your grocery needs. Shoppers can look forward to:

• A vibrant produce section stocked with fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables

• A seafood counter offering daily selections of fresh catches

• A bustling deli with sandwiches, meats, and specialty items

• A carefully curated wine and craft beer collection for enthusiasts and casual sippers alike

• A cozy café with both indoor and outdoor seating—perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely coffee

Wegmans is also known for giving back to the community. In addition to hiring roughly 450 team members (plus another 250 for construction), the store plans to support local hunger relief efforts. They’ve already pledged a $5,000 donation to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

The store is expected to open late 2026, bringing Wegmans’ signature shopping experience—and a new hub for community connection—to the Ballantyne neighborhood.
